Mr. Summers's Math Academy

Pre-Algebra (3 hours per week)

Course Description: The Pre-Algebra Enrichment class would meet two days per week. Each tutoring session would last either 1 hour or 2 hours each. The material covered would mirror what Mr. Summers normally teaches in his pre-algebra class. The difference would be no graded assignments such as tests or quizzes would be given. The five days of instruction that normally would go on in his classroom would be condensed to the three hours of instruction. This should be possible since formal testing will not be required. Some informal assessments will be given, and homework (if any) would be minimal.

Focus: The focus of the class is to teach the pre-algebra skills needed to prepare students to enter Algebra I the next year.

Intended Audience: This class would be an excellent supplement to students currently enrolled in a pre-algebra class (8th grade math) or to students wanting to enter Algebra I the next year. Mr. Summers’s students at Avery Trace enrolled in his Accelerated Math class (5th or 6th Grade Pre-Algebra) are not eligible to attend this class.] Type your paragraph here.
